Amateur Radio Foundation License // Remembering Ruth
In late May my sister-in-law, Ruth (2E0MHU), died much too young after being diagnosed some years ago with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF).
Ruth made the most tedious of situations enjoyable and always left people smiling in her wake. She was my brother’s wife and best friend.
Ruth took up amateur radio, obtaining her foundation and intermediate licenses so that she could partake in the hobby with my brother (G1MHU).
In tribute to Ruth, I took the foundation licence exam and obtained a licence (M7CFW).
Thanks to G1MHU and Essex Ham
G1MHU took me to LAM Communications and advised in purchasing a rig, antenna tuner and power supply etc.. He has given/loaned me various bits of equipment and continues to patiently answer my questions.
Essex Ham provide an excellent online training course which makes for a great route into amateur radio.
A copy of the RSGB’s Foundation Licence Manual also provides useful learning material. I highly recommend reading the relevant chapter from the book alongside each of the modules from Essex Ham’s Foundation course.

If you are able, please consider a donation to the British Lung Foundation or a lung charity closer to home.
Here’s to you, Ruth!
